Ajrak printing is a unique and complex form of block printing marked by the layering of multiple blocks, and multiple dye baths, to create oftentimes complex multi-colored patterns.

First mordanted with Myrobalan Flower, the koi is then resist block printed with gum arabica, and the flowers with a mixture of plant based indigo paste and gum arabica. The fabric is then brushed all over with iron dye, which oxidizes black beofe the fabric is washed.

Printed on millwoven silk/cotton - a beutifully refined fabric meant to mirror traditional aloha shirts through natural fibers.
